“P90X might just be crazy and intense enough to keep our attention.”

Confused? Yeah, I was too at first. But the more I thought about it the more sense it seemed to make. Here’s the deal – first off, I was being completely sarcastic about easing in to it. What we really need is a jumpstart. After 5 years it is becoming clear that we are not going to ease ourselves off of that couch. P90X might just be crazy and intense enough to keep our attention. I know myself well enough to know that the best way to get me to do something is to tell me that I can’t do it, and the looks I am getting when I tell people I am starting P90X next week are getting me very motivated!

The program addresses our goals very nicely. If it is true that it takes 30 days to establish a habit, then after 90 days we should be nicely cemented into our new exercise routine. We won’t necessarily keep working out with the same intensity, but it will be normal by then for us to get up and exercise before we go to work and I much prefer that vision of normal over my current normal which includes getting up at the absolute latest possible minute so I can rush through getting ready for work and eat a protein bar in the car for breakfast.

Speaking of breakfast, our second goal is beautifully addressed in P90X, too. They don’t talk about it as much on the infomercial, but it comes with an incredibly detailed nutrition plan. I love this! For 90 days I will not have to decide what is for dinner – they will tell me what to eat for every meal and snack the whole time.

I’ll give you more detail on the nutrition plan in a future article, but for now let it suffice to say that this thing is awesome and can work for anyone. My soon to be best buddy Tony (the creator) says that 80% of your success with this program is in following the nutrition plan. I am so on board!

So there you have it kids – we are on a mission and you get to follow along, learn from our successes and mistakes, and use what we learn to your advantage as you look for your own Broke & Healthy fitness solutions. I have a little more than a week before the madness begins – wish me luck! (And please send anti-inflammatorys!)
